Subway Stories – Count The Wreckage

October 24, 2012 By Andre Archimbaud

Anger’s an angry place to leave yourself too long.
Fear’s a fearful place to live…be strong.
Regret’s a beast that wants your soul
But teach yourself to let go.

Add the days, the weeks, the moments of your ways…
Subtract the time you’re afraid or angry or living in regret.
What do you get?

Count the wreckage.
Multiply, divide the wounds.
Replace with times & minds of joy.
Count the wreckage, but don’t get lost.

You think the things can’t get worse than they are today.
Mortal aren’t your wounds.
All of this depends on what you say…

Anger’s an awful place to leave yourself too long.
Fear’s a fateful place to live so you’d better be strong.
Regret’s a beast that wants your soul
But teach yourself to let go.

Add the moments, the wasted weeks of your ways…
Subtract that time of fear or anger or all of those regrets.
What is it that you get?

When you think that life’s not worth living…
Nearing the end of these days of yours…

Count the wreckage.
Multiply, divide the wounds.
Replace with times & minds of joy.
Count the wreckage, but don’t get lost.
