A few weeks back, I wrote six essays about my musical heroes. I’ve been diving into my music more & more of late, so I think it bears repeating here with a digest of those pieces:
Kate Bush – A remarkable person who creates the most wondrous musical tableaus & has for over 40 years now!
Maynard James Keenan – TOOL’s frontman & primary lyricist. He brings nuance to noise & subtlety to sonics.
Greg Dulli – Has been the leader of 3 or 4 acts as of now, but is most known as the love lorn lyricist of the Afghan Whigs.
Mark Eitzel – Mark has been solo as long as he was the leader of American Music Club. Clever, crafty & cogent.
Bob Mould – One of my first heroes from my high school days. His songs about angst capture such portraiture.
U2 – As much as someone may say that Bono is the lyricist here, he’s nothing without the other three guys.
