Subway Stories – Adult Halloween

October 31, 2008 By Andre Archimbaud

When I was a kid, I cannot remember – for the life of me – ever seeing an adult dressed for Halloween. My mother was a cashier and service desk clerk at Kmart…and even there they didn’t dress-up. So, it eludes me that adults continue to do this today.

Trust me, it’s not as if I am a stiff. Just ask one of my colleagues who I told a very off-color joke to yesterday. But this seems to be our society’s unending desire to stay young. I want to live as long as possible, but I also know that I am an adult. My forms of fun should be relegated to drinks with friends and a variety of team sports activities.

I’ll finish by saying that at Halloween, there is nothing more annoying than turning on the Today show…and seeing a journalist like Matt Lauer dressed up as an overgrown ‘Humpty Dumpty.’
