Subway Stories – Candleholder (@Fiery_JennyRose)

July 29, 2011 By Andre Archimbaud

How can I say thank you
To the one who held the flame?
How can I say I love you
When I never feel the same.

The axis that it spins is nothing without you
With you, the sky is a deeper, Roman blue.
Most Azure of the azure.
Solemnity in a skylight.

As I walked through my days
Sometimes like a bull…
I always had your shoulder
You are my candleholder.
The light of my eyes.
So that it never smolders.
Candleholder.

Heaven holds a place for angels.
But I’ll hold you right here.
Living days, in and out
Cast out all the fear.

For without you there are no rainbows
There is no sun nor moon.
Just a place where all the silence lives.
A sullen, evil, gloom.

Your smile, it engulfs me.
The surprise behind your eyes.
The lightness in our steps of love
Are to no one a surprise.

I owe you all the world
And never will get off.
It can toss me ’round
And up and down
But I’ll never suffer a greater loss…
Than you.

As I walked trough my days
Sometimes like a bull…
I always had your shoulder
You are my candleholder.
The light of my eyes.
So that it never smolders.
Candleholder.

You’ve always shined a light
To keep my way clear.
Even when you’re far away…
Your heart is still right here.

How can I say thank you
To the one who held the flame?
How can I say I love you
When I never feel the same.

Candleholder.
