Subway Stories – Forgot Your Eyes Could Cry

July 10, 2009 By Andre Archimbaud

I only have a few subway stops to go
Only a few more clicks on the wheel before I know
Before I know that I’ll be talking to you
I know what I’ll be saying to you

You had always kept me far away from you
Thinking closeness would only end with you blue
Forgetting all the passion
Seeing bad reactions…

 I wondered why…
I’d forgotten that your eyes could cry
For so long
They’d been so dry
I forgot your eyes could cry.

Walking up the stairs to your door
Doesn’t matter that it’s quarter to four
Doesn’t matter that I have not seen you in a while.
Four in the morning means nothing to me
It only matters what I can see…

 I wondered why…
I’d forgotten that your eyes could cry
For so long
They’d been so dry
I forgot your eyes could cry.

As I walk away from your door
It’s like I’d never seen you before
And I say…
I’d forgotten that your eyes could cry
For so long
They’d been so dry
I forgot your eyes could cry.
