The breeze, it blows
Through blades of grass
Pushing air from ground to sky
Smiles pass from eye to eye.
I wondered what the grass was like
On the other side of this life.
All the grass I’ve seen and grown
Turned to black.
Lord how I want to go back… I’d even take the grey grass
To this lifeless mass
This useless slack
Of black Clippings. Looking at the way the sun sets on this world
Looking at the shape of the pain.
Seeing all the ways of the world…
Trade you some grass seed for grain… I wondered what the grass was like
On the other side of this life.
All the grass I’ve seen turned to black.
Honey, how I need to go back… Grey grass has color
Grey grass has structure
Shows signs of life I’d even take the grey grass
To this lifeless mass
This useless slack
Of black Clippings. Grass isn’t always greener
On this side of life
Grey grass is improved
The blues and the hues
We once shared. If the grass is always greener…
Why is mine so black?
If the grass is always greener,
Then why is mine all black? The blades cut deeper than knives.
Leaving shreds and shards of me
Life’s allergies swell up like hives.
Breathing in and out is key… Avoidance and aversion…Life’s little diversions. Grass isn’t always greener
On this side of life
Grey grass is improved
The blues and the hues
We once shared. Turned to black…I want it back.
