Subway Stories – Love’s Lost Lustre

June 17, 2011 By Andre Archimbaud

From the outside looking in
It would appear they were both without sin.
She loved he the second they got hit by the same wind.
Never to give a second glimpse again…

The outside’s not the inside though.
Time and tide recede around
Fears and tears and lies abound.
Holes so torn they cannot be sewn.

Love’s lost lustre
Love has lost its sheen
The glimmer that was gold
Has made the words turn mean.
From the outside looking in…

Each had lost track of life
Fantasies of sinking knives
Deep inside the wounded’s wounds.
Love’s lost lustre.

Ground that was once given
Sounds that yielded
The motives of shielded.
Shed light upon the tone and timbre.

Love’s lost lustre
Love has lost its sheen
The glimmer that was gold
Has made the words turn mean.
From the outside looking in…

Each had lost track of life
Fantasies of sinking knives
Deep inside the wounded’s wounds.
Love’s lost lustre.
