Subway Stories – My Wide Shoulders

October 9, 2009 By Andre Archimbaud

John he was a good man.
Mary was the same.
It was his gentle nature and her impatience that were to blame.

Hiding out from themselves
Leaving from the world.
Having reached a peak
Their need to be was piqued.

John he turned to Mary
And he said
‘My wide shoulders are enough for me.
They’ll be enough for you, you’ll see.
We need to pick up and get out of here
Or we’ll stay just here I fear.

John he picked up Mary…
Put her on his back.

My wide shoulders are enough for me.
They’ll be enough for you, you’ll see.
We’ve gone and gotten out of there.
Out here is beyond compare.

My wide shoulders are enough for me…
They’ll carry us across the sea.
They’ll take us places we’d never see.
My shoulders are enough for me.
