Subway Stories – Swept Away

November 6, 2012 By Andre Archimbaud

I hold it all inside me.
All the things that time has taken from me.
I need to push the wetness away.
It’s taken more of me than time.
Its tide took me and all of it…

I had cobbled a life from much of nothing.
Slugged, slaved, plugged…
Staved off the demons with bruised shoulders always leaning on the wheel.

But, it all got swept away…
Like a cub from the mother it didn’t know…
Reaching out beyond a world that shows.
Wondering which side of the moon
Will sing its soft & lonely tune.

Life is to be lived in edible chunks, but all of mine are gone.
You don’t know how much I cried over the loss of losing you…
And all the things that proved untrue.

But, it all got swept away.
Taken like a child too young from its mom.
Dropped on me like a 10-ton bomb.
Can I put him back in the womb?
It’s all too gone and all too soon.

I hold it all inside…
All the things that time has taken from me.
I need to push it all away.
It’s taken more of me than time.
Its tide took me and all of it…
