Subway Stories – William’s Worth of Words #hbws

April 23, 2011 By Andre Archimbaud

Before he put the quill to scroll
Before the ink went in the well
The collection of letters onto which you look
Have William’s worth of words.

Definitions of life
Whole cloth of worlds
Much improved
For William’s worth of words.

Fantasies made of nothing.
Words put forth the ability to dream.
Shallow life became will & force.
A lowly life exciting, it seems.

He knew no rules that he were not his own.
Whether phrase, verse or iambic pentameter
He invented the parameters.
The language, the form, the fashion.

Telling stories, ancient kings.
Real and/or imagined.
Many or one man…
All the world’s a stage.
Gave definition to the sand.

The character of his characters
Allowed us all to see
The world before him desolate
His words made us feel free.

Before he put the quill to scroll
Before the ink went in the well
The collection of letters onto which you look
Have William’s worth of words.
