I have two overall comments about Donald Trump that I will make.
One of them today…one of them later this week or next. The latter will be a story of a very personal nature related to my actual interaction with the Trump Organization.
Today’s is just a short op-ed, if you will.
I like win/win situations. I strive for them in work & personal life. That’s a lot of the reason I rarely wax political on Facebook. “Politics on Facebook” is lose/lose in nearly every instance I’ve seen in my 9 years on Facebook.
Here’s my personal opinion about Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign:
I think it’s all a ruse.
I don’t think he actually thought he’d get this far, let alone be the presumptive nominee.
It’s known that Trump has a long-standing & seemingly close relationship with the Clintons.
Can you see where this could all be a farce to get them back into power? I say this with half-disdain. I think Bill was a pretty solid president, generally, and the country saw mostly prosperity under his watch. I am not 100% for or against any one particular candidate, either.
Can you further see how nearly all of his rhetoric has been to show how badly out of touch the GOP is & how that’s played into the mainstream media’s hands? That includes Fox News, by the way.
Can you see how he’s spoken out of both sides of his mouth on issues for years & can you see how that, in itself, leads me to this opinion:
We’re being conned by the ultimate con.
It’s been noted that Trump has earned about $2BN — yes, folks, that’s BILLION — in media time in the last 15 or so months since he announced his run. That plays right into his unquenchable thirst for media coverage.
Assuming I am right, what does Trump get out of this?
He gets the ultimate in entree for his next steps as a business man & entrepreneur. Carte blanche, if you will, into his next endeavor & a higher entry point than he’s ever had in any context as a result of conning all of us.
If there’s a downside to my opinion here it’s that Trump has run the most negative & vitriolic campaigns in the history of politics anywhere. This has taken a toll on the psyche of Americans & people around the world.
Worse yet, it’s pitted people against one another at a time when unity is needed more than ever.
We are indeed a great nation…and deserve better of both of our leading political parties.
